Cigarette store owner shot, robbed

The owner of a small store selling cigarettes was shot and robbed by three unidentified suspects along MCLL Highway, Barangay Boalan, this city, Tuesday dawn.

Police Station 5 Commander, Chief Inspector Arlan Delumpines identified the victim as Rosendo Culongan Tuling, 43, married and a resident of Barangay Pasobolong.

Delumpines said, the victim suffered a lone gunshot wound on his body and was rushed to Zamboanga Peninsula hospital for medical treatment.

Initial police investigation disclosed that at about 2:00 a.m. yesterday, the victim was onboard a motorcycle driven by his companion Eduardo Aragon.

Police said that both came from the cigarette store of the victim at the Integrated Bus Terminal in Barangay Divisoria, and were on their way home when the suspects sidled the motorcycle of the victim at the vicinity of Golden Haven memorial garden. One of the suspects shot the victim and grabbed his bag.

The suspect hurriedly fled towards unknown direction after the incident.

Delumpines told Zamboanga Today that there was no money inside the victim’s bag.

A thorough investigation is being conducted by the authorities to identify the suspects for their possible arrest. (Eugene A. Lasprilla)
