Caliolio is new private sector rep in WMSU Board of Regent


Prominent businessman and educator, Dr. Edwin Caliolio was chosen by the board of directors of the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) as the newest member of the Board of Regent representing the private sector.

The selection board has reviewed the credentials of several candidates who were nominated for such position during the 46th WMSU special board meeting held on July 12,2017 at the CHED Conference Room in Metro Manila.

As a member of the Board of Regent, Caliolio will play a vital role in taking part and contribute in the policy-making for the development and welfare of the WMSU community and its stakeholders.

WMSU officials headed by President Dr. Milabel Ho has high expectations on Caliolio, being a well-seasoned corporate man and reputable person highly-recognized by the society and academe.

Caliolio was also recently conferred the Doctor of Humanities (Honoris Causa) by Cebu Theology University. The conferment of the Doctoral Degree team was headed by Dr. Alec C. Calpe – Chancellor & Director of Theology University for Visayas/Mindanao and other officials like Dr. Philip A. Bartolada, Dr. Alfredo F. Acuña and Dr. Vic A. Liozo,Jr.

Dr. Caliolio’s exemplary performance in his own chosen field particularly in business, academe, and active involvement in various humanitarian projects and member of different Civic Club organizations highly convinced the Search Panel to bestow on him the title of Doctor of Humanities (honoris causa).  The ceremony was held at the DepEdEcotech, Sudlon Lahug,Cebu City last July 10,2017 where Caliolio was joined by his wife Eloisa.

For his part, Dr. Caliolio also thanked the WMSU Board of Regent for nominating and choosing him to be part of their organization and keep his words to uphold a better education atmosphere for the less fortunate constituents of Zamboanga City, who relies on free education given by the government under President Rodrigo Duterte.

Caliolio likewise thanked the Doctoral Degree team of Cebu Theology University for conferring him as Doctor of Humanities and for believing in him and recognizing what he has done for the society.

“It’s indeed a great privilege to be blessed, and be recognized beyond expectations. I dedicate this public service and honor to my family and the Zamboangueños,” Caliolio said. – BhongSimbajon/RMN News
