PDFPrintE-mail

In a bid to curb human trafficking activities, the Zamboanga International Airport launched the CAAP-IACAT Anti Trafficking Help Desk in the departure and arrival areas of the Zamboanga airport, on Tuesday.

In an interview with the Civil Aviation Area Manager, Mohammad Naga Rascal, he disclosed that the objective of the activity is to support the advocacy campaign of the government to stop anti-trafficking in Zamboanga Peninsula.

Meanwhile, Marietta Bellotindos, Regional Director of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) said, having a help desk inside the airport is a good step in intensifying the campaign against trafficking, as it provides a proper area where victims and informants can confidently divulge information.

“Putting them into a place where they can confidently divulge information is really a good step...” she said.

Bellotindos further added that this move is part of the preparations for the launching of the Zamboanga-Sandakan flight of Cebu Pacific in September. (KIKAY DONGALLO)
