Personnel of Police Station 11 under Superintendent Areston Limos arrested in Barangay San Roque, the suspect in the shooting of a Filipino-Chinese businessman inside his drug store along Thomas Claudio Street, on Friday.

Investigator-on-case, PO3 Had-Anuar Edding identified the suspect as Mubin Ursal Jaman, 27, married, and a resident of Barangay San Roque.

Edding said that the suspect was identified and arrested based on the statement of the victim, Gerald Nathaniel Yuking, 40, single, of Mercado Street, Barangay Zone 1.

Yuking suffered a lone gunshot wound in the stomach.

The police said that prior to the incident, the businessman had a heated discussion with the suspect. Accordingly, Yuking confronted the suspect and prevented him from selling his goods along the sidewalk in front of the store of the victim.

The suspect is now detained at the police station.

The police investigator is coordinating with the owners of nearby establishments to secure closed circuit television (CCTV) footages of the shooting incident.

Edding told Zamboanga Today that the suspect will undergo paraffin test at the Regional Crime Laboratory Office 9.

Appropriate case was readied against the suspect in court. (Eugene A. Lasprilla)
