The Task Force Zamboanga is verifying intelligence reports that there are still Abu Sayyaf terrorists hiding in barangay Taluksangay.

Task Force Zamboanga commander Col. Leonel Nicolas disclosed that some concerned citizens from that barrio have informed them about the presence of other people with new faces who could be members of the dreaded ASG.

Nicolas ordered intelligence units and other personnel of his command to verify the report and to immediately submit the outcome of their intelligence gathering information.

It will be recalled that the police, military and intelligence units recently apprehended two Abu Sayyaf extremists in Taluksangay.

The suspects were in possession of an Improvised Explosive Device, firearms and grenades.

He said that last month a member of the Tabligh was also arrested for suspected links with the terrorist group.

He was recruiting young individuals in that barangay to join the bandits for a fee,” Nicolas said.

The Task Force Zamboanga commander thanked and lauded the efforts of the residents for providing vital and timely information to the authorities.

”This clearly shows that the residents are supporting the police and the military in the fight against terrorism,” Nicolas emphasized. (Nonong Santiago)
