Police launch manhunt vs shooting, holdup suspects

Personnel of the Divisoria Police Station 5 under Supt. Mark Azur are now conducting a search on the possible whereabouts of the two unidentified riding-in-tandem suspects in the shooting of two passengers aboard a tricycle along MCLL Highway, Barangay Putik, this city shortly before midnight of Friday.

Azur told Zamboanga Today at about 11:56 p.m. of Friday, a shooting incident occurred at MCLL Highway near ZAMCELCO main office where a tricycle driver and his two passengers were fired upon for three consecutive times by unidentified perpetrators from behind. Fortunately, no one was hit.

Azur identified the victims as Johan Kingking Shri-Jehanna, 24, single and Yazcor Abdulhalim Johan, 42, single, both passengers and residents of Sto. Niño Village, Putik and the tricycle, Randy Gelito, of legal age, of Barangay San Jose, this city.

Police said the victims were all unharmed. They were able man to seek help from the security guard and militiamen detailed at ZAMCELCO compound which prompted the suspects to withdraw and sped away towards Barangay Guiwan, this city.

Meanwhile, Azur disclosed that two pedestrians were held and robbed at gunpoint by 2 perpetrators at the vicinity of Early Bird Eatery an hour after the shooting incident.

The victims identified as Joshua Bartilet Jalon, 22, single, of Porcentro, Guiwan and Analin Delos Reyes Mendoza, 23, single, of Putik.

Probers revealed the duo was walking along MCLL Highway, Guiwan when the suspects appeared and forcibly took a Cherry Mobile cellular phone and wallet containing P1,800 cash.

Azur added that the victims claimed that the back-rider was armed with a handgun and wearing color black cap and jacket with a big marking KORN. The suspect is also heavily-build, with dark complexion and with beard. However, the victims failed to describe the driver of the RS 150 motorcycle. They described the motor as having a red and white colorcombination.

The police revealed that the two incidents were perpetrated by the same suspects as the victims gave a matched description of their attackers.

The police operatives have expedited all resources for the possible identification and arrest of the suspects. (Eugene A. Lasprilla)
