The activity was cancelled for several times in the past but Dela Rosa insisted to fly to Zamboanga City, despite of his hectic schedule, to join the PRO9 command, which was the last command in his list for troop visitation before his retirement.

Nonetheless, he expressed gratitude to the police forces of PRO9 for their immeasurable police service and dedication to their duty and to his administration.

“As early as now, nagpapasalamat ako . . .  .  maraming, maraming salamat sa iyong pagtitiis, pagsusumikap at pagtitimpi kasi alam ko galit na, galit na kayo dahil winawalanghiya tayo ng ibang tao but still you keep your cool which is the right virtue of a real police,” Dela Rosa stressed.

In spite of the negative criticism coming from some sectors, the highest ranking police official salutes the gallant men and women of PRO9 have indeed been performing truly well.

Dela Rosa emphasized that celebrating the police service anniversary for 116 years becomes more meaningful as it dedicates to the police forces on the ground who are in the frontline of the peace and order campaign.

He mentioned about the PRO9’s achievement in the campaign plan Oplan Double Barrel and Oplan Tokhang speak well of their relentless effort last year similarly in addressing other crimes and showing the Region 9 community that the police force has remain strong and steadfast in pursuing their mandate to serve and protection and maintain peace and order in Zamboanga provinces.

His stern warning to his policemen is never to lower their guard because the lawless elements, who are gaining strength, will continue to find ways to defy the law and purse their criminal activities.

Dela Rosa also mentioned about the free-flow of illegal drugs in the country however, his administration recently started to strengthen the effort against riding-in-tandem criminals.

“Alam ko dito sa PRO9 meron parin tumitira na riding-in-tandem. Habulin ninyo [at] huwag nyong barilin pag naabutan alam nyo na anong dapat gawin,” Dela Rosa uttered in jest. (Eugene A. Lasprilla)
