NFA assures quality of rice distributed to flood victims (Manager says odor is normal )

The National Food Authority (NFA) the other day assured that the rice being provided to the city government is fit for human consumption.

NFA Provincial Manager, Nieves Toca has declared that inspite of the alleged bad odor, the rice that the local government is distributing to thousands of beneficiaries who were affected by the flood is still of good quality.

“Ganyan talaga ang odor pag natagalan sa bodega. Pero I assure that the rice is still very much fit for human consumption,” Toca said.

This was the reaction of Toca to mayor Isabelle Climaco’s statement last week calling on NFA to provide them with good quality rice to be distributed to beneficiaries in areas that was hit by flash floods last month.

“Give us rice that is of good quality because I will not accept it if it is not fit for eating. I want the best for my people,” Climaco said.

Recall, thousands of residents from various barangays have been affected by flooding last month and the city government, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office, has been distributing rice and grocery items such as noodles and sardines to thousands of flood victims. (BND)
