POEA IX expects job orders from New Zealand

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration IX (POEA) remains optimistic that job orders will soon be released after an official announcement was made by the New Zealand immigration official website that they have long-term and immediate skilled worker shortages in the sectors of Agriculture and forestry, construction, education, engineering, finance/ business, health and social services, recreation, hospitality and tourism, science, trade, and transport.

Marietta Bellotindos, POEA Regional Director said that their office is just waiting for final job orders with no placement fee for New Zealand this year for Filipinos seeking work in the said country.

Bellotindos added that NZ needs thousands of skilled workers (OFWs) that have work experience as Steelfixer, glaziers, welder, asphalter, assistant dairy farmer, carpenter, chef, electrician, Civil Engineer, and other fields of specialization.

As of now, Bellotindos said that NZ has immediate shortages on oil and gas workers. In Canterbury region where Christchurch City is located, there is shortage of workers on construction, engineering, telecommunications, and trade.

Bellotindos vowed to immediately make a public announcement as soon as the job orders arrive.

The POEA is reminding would be applicants for jobs in New Zealand to prepare their comprehensive resumes. (Kikay Dongallo)
