Nine-vehicle accident along Veterans Avenue

A 10-wheeler truck rammed into a car that resulted in vehicular accident involving nine vehicles along Veterans Avenue, Zamboanga City yesterday morning.

Chief Inspector Raymond Sanson, Chief of the Traffic Section of Police Station 11, said the truck allegedly lost its breaks and rammed a Toyota Wigo car, causing a vehicular accident chain reaction that involved two tricycles, two motorcycles, a public utility jeepney (PUJ), two multicabs, and a Mazda Bongo truck.

Sanson said that the 10-wheeler truck owned by a local fishing company was being driven by Edwin Salazar. He claimed that he lost his breaks along Veterans Avenue and tried to avoid hitting pedestrians on the sidewalk, thus he just hit the car ahead of him causing the other collisions.

Police report disclosed that Salazar was carrying twenty persons on the truck as passengers and were on their way to Barangay Baliwasan when upon nearing the junction of Don Toribio Street, Barangay Tetuan, the accident happened.

Sanson said that there was no casualty in the incident.

Sanson Told Zamboanga Today that the fishing company that owns the truck already coordinated with the traffic police investigator for a possible amicable settlement with all those involved in the vehicular accident. (Eugene A. Lasprilla)
