PDFPrintE-mail

Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College (ZCSPC) is moving forward to becoming the Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University, pending compliance of the requirements mandated by the Commissipn on Higher Education (CHED).

This after the House Committee on Technical and Higher Education and CHED gave positive feedbacks and pledged their support in facilitating the conversion of ZCSPC into a university before the end of the 17th Congress.

CHED declared that they will not be a stumbling bock to the best interest of ZCSPC and will help in achieving the dream of the said college.

For his part, the author of ZCSPC conversion, Congressman Celso Lobregat, who facilitated the visit and ocular inspection of the combined team from Congress and CHED, also reminded ZCSPC management under Dr. Nelson Cabral to waste no time in complying the needed requirements for the realization of their university status.

"I can only shepherd the bill in congress but it will be up to the management and facilty to comply with the requirements. You should follow my work ethics, working like there's no tomorrow," Lobregat said.

Lobregat said, "We are fortunate that the Congressional Committee on Higher and Technical Education under Representative Anne Hofer, as well as Senate Committee on Education Chairman Sen. Chiz are really pushing for the conversion of colleges into universities as long as they are qualified."

The solon urged Dr. Cabral to immediately come up with a task force and provide the necessary timeline for their compliance. (Dexter Yap)
