City releases P785K cash aid for Kasanyangan fire victims


The 180 families displaced by the fire in barangay Kasanyangan last September received financial assistance from the City Government as part of its continuous social services and assistance to people in crisis situations.

Spearheaded by City Administrator Apple Go and Youth Mayor KC Madrazo, the distribution of the cash assistance was held at the Office of the City Mayor with the assistance of personnel from the City Treasurer’s Office and City Social Welfare and Development Office, the agency tasked to assess and validate the list of calamity victims.

A total of P785,000 were released by the City Government for the assistance.

Of the total 180 families displaced by the conflagration, 119 were owners of houses that were totally damaged, 6 were owners of houses partially damaged, 48 were houses sharers/renters with totally damaged houses, 2 house sharers with partially damaged houses and 3 house boarders with totally damaged houses.

The amount of assistance varies depending on the degree of damage and status of house ownership, based on a resolution of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC),formerly the City Disaster Council (CDC).
