Police tightens security in Zambo

In an effort to avert criminal activities during the fast approaching yuletide season, the Zamboanga City Police Office have intensified the deployment of their personnel to the different parts of the city.

In an interview with Acting City Police Director, SSupt. Neri Vincent Ignacio, he said that all units under the ZCPO are already working together to mount serious operations, including the conduct of intensified check/choke points under the ZCPO’s AOR.

According to Ignacio, they remain on high alert.

“Criminality comes in different forms ranging from pickpocketers to burglaries, theft of goods and properties in transit and fraudulent deals among others," he said.

He added that they want to make sure that criminals will not take advantage of innocent citizens during this period, especially in the downtown area where consumers are busy shopping.

"A lot of activities are already taking place in trade and movement of people. That's why we are on alert," he said.

Ignacio called on the public to be vigilant at all times and report any suspicious person to the authorities.

He also cautioned travelers to avoid carrying huge sums of money, explaining that cash is an attraction to criminals who very common during the festive season. (Kikay Dongallo)
