Police arrest two suspects in bazaar robbery - hold-up

Two out of six armed hold-uppers who were allegedly responsible for last Sunday’s daring and broad daylight downtown robbery were arrested during the separate follow-up operations carried out by the personnel of Central Police Station (Police Station 11) led by Supt. Areston Limos on Monday.

Supt. Limos identified the first arrested hold-uppers as Howell Mark Ramos Barjose, 33, single, of Kilometer-7, Upper Barangay Pasonanca, this city. He as apprehended by the police operatives  while resting at his residence.

Howell Mark was identified through the getaway XRM 125 motorcycle and positively pinpointed by several witnesses as the one who drove the said motorcycle as the get-way vehicle used during the armed robbery.

Meanwhile, in the subsequent follow-up operation conducted by Police Station 11 operatives at R.T.Lim Boulevard, Barangay Baliwasan, this city, it resulted to the successful arrest of Argie Greg Bolhano y Saradat, 21, single, a working student and a resident of Kilometer-7, Pasonanca.

Police disclosed that Argie Greg was positively identified by the saleslady of the department store as the hold-upper who personally grabbed the plastic cellophane containing the assorted jewelries.

Limos told Zamboanga Today that the two suspects were presented in a police line-up where the witnesses positively identified them.

Both suspects are currently detained at the police station pending the filing of appropriate case against them in court.

However, during the investigation both suspects vehemently denied the accusation claiming that they are innocent of the charge.

The police expressed confidence that with the arrest of the two suspects they are confident that the other remaining suspects will also be arrested in due time.

Limos said that they are conducting follow-up operations for the possible arrest of the four remaining suspects.

It can be recalled that Mayor Beng Climaco-Salazar on Monday has expressed concern over the increase of hold-up incidents especially last Sunday’s daring and broad daylight armed robbery-hold-up inside a department store in downtown area where the suspects carted ways assorted pieces of jewelries.

Hence, Mayor Beng issued an ultimatum to the city police for the identification and immediate arrest of the suspects in the said hold-up incident.

The local chief executive expressed disappointment over the increase in the robbery, snatching, hold-up, shooting and other criminal incidents as she ordered the City Police Office to take aggressive measures to effectively address the situation. (Eugene A. Lasprilla)
