Taiwanese envoy visits Zambo


The Representative of the Republic of China (Taiwan) Dr. Gary Song-Huann Lin visited Zamboanga City Thursday for a series of activities intended to foster economic and cultural ties.

Included in his itinerary was a courtesy call and private meeting with Mayor Beng Climaco and other city officials late Thursday afternoon.

Mayor Climaco warmly welcomed the Taiwanese official to City Hall, as she expressed hopes that the visit will strengthen ties between Taiwan and the city.

Other activities included the meeting Zamboangueño alumni of trainings in Taiwan, a visit to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Philippine Coast Guard and Zamboanga Chong Hua High School and a meeting with some Taiwanese businessmen in the city.

Dr. Lin is with his wife Madame Lin Chern Su-Hwa. His visit to Zamboanga City is his first trip to Mindanao since he assumed his post at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO). (Sheila Covarrubias)
