Dipolog City hosts Regional PRISAA Games


The regional Private Schools Athletic Associations (PRISAA) kicked off in Dipolog City the other day.

Hundreds of delegations from the cities of Zamboanga, Isabela, Pagadian and the host city joined the athletic parade from the Rizal Park and converged at Andres Bonifacio College (ABC) for the opening ceremonies.

Dipolog City Mayor Darel Dexter Uy acknowledged the different delegations and lauded the PRISAA regional hierarchy headed by its Regional/National Executive Director Elbert “Bong” Atilano, Sr., for the hosting of the game competitions.

Uy challenged the participants to be engaged in sports activities and other talents for interactions in the community.

“As we are once again hosting this prestigious regional PRISAA games, we really need to promote sports for youth development and to foster camaraderie and friendship,” the mayor said.

The athletic parade and the opening ceremonies was followed by the traditional “Mayor’s Night,” at Boulevard building-B, where all technical officials and other guests gathered for a dinner fellowship.

A total of 735 delegations will see actions in the playing field for individual, dual and team sports which include athletics, badminton, boxing, chess, dancesport, karatedo, tennis, swimming, volleyball and vocal solo/duet.

Zamboanga City will be hosting the 2019 PRISAA Regional games while this year’s National PRISAA Games is scheduled on April 19 to 27, 2018. (Monch L. Follosco)
