Two hurt in road mishaps

A 45-year-old man was hit and run by a commuter van along MCLL Highway, Sitio Tigbao, Barangay Licomo, Zamboanga City, Sunday.

The victim was identified as Joel Fundador y Sampero, 45, married and a resident of Barangay Licomo.

Police reports show that Fundador suffered injuries and was brought to Vitali Lying-in clinic for medical treatment.

PO1 Ahmad Daggung, investigator of Police Station 1, coordinated with the adjacent police station in Barangay Curuan to intercept the commuter van that sped-off after the incident.

The driver of the van, Lydio Decierdo y Bellingan, 52, married, a native of Manag, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur (ZDS) Province, was apprehended by the police and has admitted the crime.

Meanwhile, Anthonino Delos Reyes y Eugenio, 80, of Barangay Talaban, this city, was accidentally bumped by a commuter van driven by Jose Desoyo y Patoc, 33, married, of Barangay Upper Clarian, while driving his bicycle along MCLL Highway, on Sunday.

A report coming from Police Station 4 show that the Foton commuter van with no plate number was travelling from the city proper heading east when it hit the bicycle that was at the center barrier attempting to cross the road.

The old man sustained head injuries and was immediately brought onboard an ambulance to Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) for medical attention.

Desoyois now detained at the police station pending further investigation. (Eugene A. Lasprilla)
