Mayor Beng Climaco has tasked the Zamboanga City Police Office to check on the angle or motive of shooting incidents happening in the city as this will not only help identify the suspects but also ensure the swift resolution of the case.

The mayor has also tasked City Police Director Col. Neri Ignacio to further intensify the campaign against crime incidents following the shooting incidents last Saturday involving an employee of the Civil Aviation Authority and the twin incidents Monday involving a ship engineer who was killed in Tetuan and a police woman who was murdered in San Roque.

Climaco also cited the critical role played by witnesses in resolving a crime incident. “The police have already submitted to me the situational report but as to the investigation, it will only be successful if there are witnesses who are cooperating and talking to authorities.”

She said investigators have talked to the relatives of the victims as well as witnesses for testimonies, however, she said the lack of witnesses hampers the resolution of the case.

“We appeal to people who have knowledge on the incident to speak out and give testimonies to help resolve the cases,” the mayor emphasized during the Monday press briefing in City Hall.

Meanwhile, police authorities are trying to piece all evidences to help in the identification of the suspects and eventually the motive of the 3 shooting incidents that happened over the weekend and early Monday morning. Initially, the police eye personal grudge as the angle of the 3 incidents. (Sheila Covarrubias/PR)
