After the long wait, San Roque Barangay Chairman Joselito Macrohon is now an official member of the City Council of Zamboanga representing District 1.

Macrohon relinquished his position in their barangay and took his oath of office as City Councilor before Congressman Celso Lobregat at the solon’s residence in Nunez in the presence of relatives and some PDP, LDP and Nacionalista party officials and supporters.

Lobregat said the entry of Macrohon is a huge impact because the red team is more solid than ever.

Macrohon said when he was barangay chair of San Roque, he has identified the various problems in that community and he believes that all the barangays have similar problems which he can now help solve as a City Councilor representing the 37 barangays in District 1.

Asked if his vote on controversial issues in the City Council will be based on party decision, Macrohon said he will decide based on his conscience and that for the years he spent with the red team, the decisions of the party have always been for the good of the people of the city.

Macrohon will serve the remaining term of disqualified councilor Charlie Mariano for more than a year and when asked if he will run again for councilor in the 2019 elections, he said, “If I will be happy in my work as councilor, perhaps I might run again.”

Also present in the oathtaking were Councilors Mike Alavar, Jerry Perez, Myra Paz Abubakar, Rudy Lim, Lilibeth Nuno, former congresswoman Lilia Nuno, former councilors VP Elago, Rey Candido, Mel Sadain, Noning Biel, Gerky Valesco, Taluksangay kagawad Hanna Nuno, Lumayang barangay chair Kap Fred Atilano, Zone 2 barangay chair Nonito Aranas and Macrohon’s wife and children.
