Measle cases in Zambo still in outbreak level - CHO

Although the measles cases in the city have decreased in the past weeks, the City Health Office (CHO) said that the number of reported cases is still in the epidemic threshold or outbreak level.

CHO Epidemiologist Dr. Ivy Iturralde said that for the months of January to March, the registered cases of measles have reached 331, affecting especially those under the 5 year-old age group.

She said that the barangays with measles attack rate per population are Sangali, Rio Hondo, Sacol, Pasobolong, Mercedes, Arena Blanco, Lumbangan, Sta. Catalina, Calarian and San Jose Gusu.

The top ten barangays as to the number of measle cases are Sangali with 39 cases, Calarian with 25 cases, Mercedes - 18 cases, Sta. Catalina - 15, Arena  Blanco with 12, Sta. Maria and Tumaga with 11 cases, Guiwan, Putik and Talon Talon with 10 cases, Tugbungan, San Roque and Tetuan with 8 cases, Zambowood and Recodo with 7 cases and Divisoria and mampang with 6 cases each.

According to Iturralde, for the past two weeks, there were no additional deaths. (Elinor Fernandez)
