Workers who were constructing a school building on Wednesday night caught a venomous king cobra inside the school campus of the Talon-Talon National High School, this city.

The 1.5 meters long female cobra was turned over yesterday morning to the employees of the City Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) under the Protected Area Office (PAO).

According to PAO Rogelio Bacamante, the cobra is venomous and humans including animals if bitten will certainly die from the venom.

Bacamante said the construction of the school building could have disturbed the habitat of the snake the reason why it left and wandered to another area.

The worker reportedly saw the snake around 9 p.m. and immediately caught and placed it inside a drum.

The CENRO employee expressed a sigh of relief that the poisonous cobra was recovered saying it could harm the students who were attending the graduation rites of the school which was scheduled yesterday morning.

Bacamante said the snake will be released to its natural habitat anytime in the afternoon. (Elinor Fernandez)
