Two apprehended as police raid ‘Tarian’ in east coast

Operatives of the Sangali Police Station (Police Station 3) on Monday arrested two persons for engaging in illegal cockfighting or locally known as ‘Tarian’at Purok 5, Barangay Sangali, this city.

Apprehended were Michael Luturio y Canas, 41, single, of Barangay Talon-Talon, this city, and Fidel Gregorio y Francisco, 44, married, of Barangay Victoria, this city.

Police Station 3 commander Chief Inspector Chester Natividad said that an informant tipped them about the holding of an illegal cockfighting at Purok 5.

Natividad said the operatives raided the ‘Tarian” and were able to apprehend Luturio and Gregorio while those many other  gamblers fled before the arrival of the police.

The suspects were brought to the police station for investigation and detention.

A case for violation of P.D. 1602 as amended by R.A. 9187, otherwise known as the Anti-Gambling Law has been readied by the police investigators against the suspects in court.

The Zamboanga City Police  Office (ZCPO) has ordered all its 11 police precincts to further intensify the campaign against all forms of illegal gambling in the entire city. (Peping Heramil)
