A signage identifying an area in Sitio Anuling, Barangay Pamucutan, Zamboanga City as “Camp Ahad”, containing the emblem of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) camp was ordered dismantledafter it was discovered by police and Task Force Zamboanga (TFZ) personnel on Sunday.

City Police Director, Sr. Supt. Alan Nazarro said that a concerned citizen tipped the police about the signage of the MNLF at the lot owned by Abdulajid Muhti in the said place.

Nazarro said that the camp is under the supervision of a certain Naser Asdali, an MNLF commander and a resident of Barangay Recodo, who is under the leadership of a certain Abdullah Awalul based in Siasi, Tawi-Tawi Province.

Nazarro told Zamboanga Today that through the intervention of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP), the camp commander was convinced to dismantle the signage and emblem of the MNLF camp.

“We sought the intervention of the local OPAPP representatives to negotiate for the dismantling of the camp and explain to the MNLF members that they violated laws,” the city police chief said.

The MNLF members at Camp Ahad, Campong Anuling were identified as Basa A. Abdulhamid, Rajik Azula, Faisal A. Basa, Aljen J. Asdali, Dut-Ir Najihil, HasadAmil, Aljam Abdulajid and Jul Asiri.

The government forces requested the camp commander to present documents authorizing the establishment of the MNLF camp in the area but none was provided.

The MNLF members agreed to dismantle their camp in the presence of the officials of Barangay Pamucutan. (Peping Heramil)
