A man was shot and critically wounded at the vicinity of Petron Gas Station in Barangay San Roque, Zamboanga City on Tuesday.

Police Station 7 commander  Supt. Mark Azur identified the victim as Ernesto Villanueva Sioco, 62, single, a native of Pangasinan but presently residing at the said barangay.

Azur said the victim suffered a lone gunshot wound in the head and was rushed to Brent Hospital for medical treatment.

Azur told Zamboanga Today that the victim is still confined and under medical observation at the Zamboanga Doctor's Hospital where he was later transferred.

Initial police investigation showed that at about 7:35 p.m. of Tuesday, Sioco was at a billiard hall when he was shot by the unidentified gunman onboard an RS 125cc, color black with green.

"Based on report gathered, the suspect was in his 40s, wearing black pants and olive green shirt," Azur added.

Recovered from the crime scene were an empty shell and a slug believed to be from a caliber .45 pistol.

PO1 Bryan Delgado, investigator-on-case, is still conducting a deeper investigation to identify the assailant.

However, Azur believed that the possible motive of the incident was personal grudge. (Eugene A. Lasprilla)
