Among the primary concerns of the government, according to Chief Supt. Billy Beltran, Police Regional Office IX, is to be "Makakalikasan" (Environment-Friendly), which is one of the core values of the Philippine National Police.

"It has always been part of the PNPs advocacy to serve and protect not only the community but also the environment against unlawful activities," Beltran said.

As part of this value, PRO9 composed of the Provincial Police Office of Isabela, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga City Police Office, RPSB IX, RMFB IX and other unit conducted a coastal cleaning at about 6:00 in the morning of June 8 at Cawa-Cawa  Boulevard, this city.

"The activity aimed to protect the environment and natural resources considering the alarming status of the area being a polluted coastal area," Beltran said.

R.T.Lim (Cawa-Cawa) Boulevard lies along the stretch of Camp Batalla where some quarters and units of the PNP are situated.
