LTO9 to intensify road safety inspection on buses due to rise in accidents

The Land Transportation Office 9 (LTO9) will intensify their road safety inspection on buses at Integrated Bus Terminal in Divisoria as road mishaps become alarming as reported by Police Regional Office 9 (PRO9).

In an interview with LTO9 Regional Director Atty. Aminola Abaton, he said that  as soon as Ramadhan ends, he will dispatch his personnel’s to  closely inspect the buses' wheels, headlights, windshield, side mirrors, seats, seat belt, body markings, breaks, and documentation.

Meanwhile, in a report released by PRO9, it expressed alarm over the rising number of deaths and injuries due to road mishaps at the National Highway in the region.

The report also states thet from June 5 to 12 , PRO9 Regional Operation Center tallied a total of thirteen (13) vehicular accidents  occurred at the provinces / cities in the region where it registered 8 deaths and 46 injury.

Also, Abaton shared similar investigation result as to the causes of these road accidents released by PRO9 this Tuesday.

Some causes of the road accidents includes over speeding, human error such as counter flowing, drunk driving, losing control of the vehicle, illegal turning and undisciplined drivers.

"We would like to tell the riding public that their safety is our foremost concern, hence, we will do everything to ensure the road worthiness of these passenger buses as well as in making sure that the drivers are professional enough so that they can entrust their lives on them," Abaton said.

Abaton further added that they never failed to remind the operators about the Road Safety Compliance.
