Operating troops of the Philippine Marine Ready Force (PMRF) have rescued six members of a family earlier abducted by suspected kidnap-for-ransom group in Sulu.

The Sulu-based PMRF Sulu is composed of Marine Battalion Landing Team 3 (MBLT3) led by Lt. Col. Ramil Holgado under under the command of Col. Armel Tolato, and Brig. Gen. Divino Rey Pabayo.

The Javier Family identified as Feliciano Javier, 30; Elsa Javier, 30; Junior Javier, 22; Rica Javier, 22; Val Javier, 22; and six-month old Vincent Javier were rescued in an undisclosed area in Talipao town on Tuesday night.

The Javiers, who lives in Maasim, Barangay San Nicolas, Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte,  were abducted by kidnap for ransom gang in Sirawai town last July 28, 2018.

Authorities said the kidnappers were led by Jamilo Wahab.

KFRG gangs frequently operate in the Zamboanga peninsula region - Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Sibugay and Zamboanga City.

They are known to turn their captives over to the Abu Sayyaf and negotiate for a ransom that, if paid, is shared with the terrorist group.

Pabayo said subsequently, operating troops brought the rescued kidnap victims to the Luuk District Hospital in Barangay Tubig Puti Luuk, Sulu for medical check up."

Initial debriefing and proper documentation were performed for the rescued kidnap victims (excluding the child) before they were turned over to higher headquaters, he said. -- Hader Glang
