PDFPrintE-mail

Congressman Celso Lobregat has called on the police and military forces in Zamboanga City to stay alert and vigilant amidst the present volatile peace and order condition of the region.

This, after a destructive car bomb perpetrated by an alleged suicide bomber exploded yesterday morning in Lamitan City, killing ten people.

Lobregat said that he is expecting the members of the PNP and AFP here to heighten their alert status and augment their forces who are securing the borders and all entry and exit points of the city.

“We cannot afford to become collateral damage of the acts of terror being perpetrated by lawless elements in the nearby provinces. All of us must be extra vigilant to include the civilian populace,” Lobregat said.

Lobregat said he will coordinate with Western Mindanao Commander Lt. General. Arnel Dela Vega and Task Force Zamboanga commander Col. Leonel Nicolas to discuss the security situation in the city.

The solon is also commending the heroism displayed by the members of the Scout Ranger Company and the civilian militiamen or CAFGU members who gave their lives in protecting the people, and extended his condolences to the bereaved families.

The car bomb which was intercepted by the military in their detachment could have brought bigger tragedy if it was able to enter Lamitan City yesterday where a big public activity was scheduled. (Dexter Yap/PR)
