San Jose Gusu fire victims get cash aid

As part of the city’s consistent social service program, Mayor Beng Climaco yesterday morning distributed financial assistance to families displaced by the June 18 fire incident in San Jose Gusu.

Facilitated by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), the distribution of the financial assistance was a result of the assessment and validation of the total 18 families affected by the conflagration.

A total of P72, 000 was released by the City Government for the 18 displaced families, 9 of which are house owners with totally damaged houses while 9 others are house sharers and renters.

Per resolution from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC), house owners with totally damaged houses get P5,000 cash assistance each while house renters and sharers with totally damaged houses receive P3,000 each.

The amount is intended to help alleviate the plight of the fire victims.

Meanwhile, fire victims in other areas, provided they are house owners/ renters or sharers based on the CSWDO assessment and validation, will also receive similar financial assistance from the city government.

The financial assistance is in addition to other forms of assistance provided by the city and other agencies earlier. (Sheila Covarrubias/PR)
