A man was shot and wounded while visiting his wife’s family at Philram Drive, Barangay Putik, Zamboanga City on Wednesday.

Police Station 5 commander Chief Insp. Salvador Galvez identified the victim as Selizar Sahi Villarin, 36, married, a native of Tawi-Tawi Province, temporarily residing at the said place.

Galvez said the victim suffered a lone gunshot wound in his left leg and was rushed to Zamboanga Peninsula (ZAMPEN) hospital for medication.

Hospital personnel turned over to the police a slug taken from the victim’s wound.

Initial police investigation shows that the victim was inside their house when an unidentified person knocked on their gate at about 8:00 in the evening.

The victim went out to talk to the person who was allegedly looking for a certain Mike. While the two were talking, another man approached them and suddenly shot Villarin.

Police said the suspects hurriedly boarded their getaway motorcycle heading towards the city proper.

Galvez disclosed that according to the victim, the driver was wearing a black jacket with Kevlar helmet while his accomplice was clad in black T-shirt and X-pro helmet.

Galvez said that they are still convincing the victim to cooperate with the police investigation to establish the identity of the perpetrators as well as the motive of the shooting. (Eugene A. Lasprilla)
