Man shot in Campung Islam


A native of Jolo in Sulu Province was shot dead in the vicinity of Marlboro Drive, Lower Calarian, Barangay Campung Islam, Zamboanga City yesterday dawn.

Police Station 8 commander Chief Insp. Ramon Bautista Jr. identified the fatality as Farwis Sammah, of legal age, a native of Kasanyangan Village, Jolo, Sulu and presently residing in Barangay San Roque, this city.

Bautista told Zamboanga Today that the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the different parts of the body, causing his instantaneous death.

Police recovered at the crime scene eight spent shells and six deformed slugs of a caliber .45 pistol.

Initial police investigation shows that prior to the incident, the victim was allegedly having a conversation with the suspect,when the suspect suddenly pulled out a gun and shot the victim repeatedly.

Probers said the suspect hurriedly fled towards the inner portion of the barangay after the incident.

Bautista revealed that the motive of the incident is believed to be personal grudge.

A continuous investigation is being conducted by PO1 Thommerly Arab, investigator-on-case, to identify and arrest the suspect. (Eugene A. Lasprilla)
