An estimated 600 adult members of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines from the different cities and provinces of Mindanao are participating in the 13th Rover Moot in Zamboanga City.

Mayor Beng Climaco on Sunday welcomed the participants who will stay in the city until August 30, 2018.

The Rover Moot event aims to provide safe, exciting and relevant activities to the participants who will render community services in selected barangays.

They identified five barangays namely Mariki, Pasonanca, San Roque, Calarian and Lamisahan for the different activities to include mangrove planting, distribution of garbage bins, and others.

In barangay Mariki, at least 100 scouters will participate in the mangrove planting. Scouters assigned in barangays San Roque and Calarian will make garbage bins and distribute them in strategic places in the community. In Pasonanca, the scouters will change and beautify the school flagpole while in Lamisahan, scouters will build a daycare center.

They will also participate in outdoor activities that promote healthy and active lifestyles.

Aside from fostering camaraderie and fellowship among Rovers from the different Boy Scout councils, they will also join the villagers in forums on human rights, peace, health and environmental issues. (SS)
