Newly assumed Police Regional Office 9 (PRO9) Director  Chief Supt. Emmanuel Luis Licup vowed to pursue operations against illegal drugs, illegal gambling and illegal logging activities all over Zamboanga Peninsula.

Licup told Zamboanga Today that his administration will prioritize operation against illegal drugs, smuggling and gambling, following the standing order of the Chief of the Philippine National Police, Director General Oscar Albayalde.

Licup said that he will put the three critical concerns as the top most priority of his administration and coordinate with other government agencies in their operations.

Albayalde, in his speech during the turn over ceremony on Tuesday, emphasized the importance in preserving peace and order and security.

Albayalde further said that Licup must strengthen his police force in the Regional Headquarters and the far flung police stations which he believes will help the organization in combating crimes and giving good service to the community.

Meanwhile, Licup said that he will also prioritize the concern of President Rodrigo Duterte on smuggling activities in the peninsula.

“I will be coordinating with the Bureau of Customs Zamboanga to discuss the prevailing problem of smuggling activities and how to address and solve the problem,” Licup said.

Licup also congratulated Chief Supt. Billy Beltran, the outgoing PRO9 chief, and assured him that his programs will continue.   (Eugene A. Lasprilla)
