Motorist hurt in road accident

A motorist landed in a hospital after he was slammed by a detached tire coming from a speeding Ford Ranger while he was travelling along the MCLL Highway in Barangay Cabaluay,  this city on Wednesday.

The victim was identified as Jhoben Keitz Flores y Estandia, 30, married, driver of the Honda XRM 125 with temporary plate number 090110-1001785571 and a resident of Barangay  Bolong, this city.

The victim was brought to Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) after sustaining injuries in the different parts of the body.

Initial police investigation showed that at about 6 p.m. of Wednesday, Flores onboard his motorcycle was traveling towards east coast direction but upon reaching the highway of  Cabaluay he was hit by a rolling tire coming from the opposite lane.

Police said that Jovito Dayao y Acupanda, 59, married, of Barangay Guiwan, this city, driver of the Ford Ranger bearing plate number SGD 288 with 4 passengers aboard from Luzon, was running from Ipil heading toward the city proper when accidentally the left rear tire of the car was detached from the vehicle.

Probers added that the tire rolled over towards the opposite lane heading to the direction of the incoming motorcycle driven by Flores.

Both vehicles incurred damages and are presently impounded at Police Station 5 for safekeeping while the vehicular accident is still under investigation. (Eugene A. Lasprilla)
