2 injured, 15 houses razed in two fire incidents in Zambo

Two persons were injured while at least15 houses were totally burned in two separate conflagrations that occurred in barangays Sinunuc and Kasanyangan yesterday dawn and last Wednesday night, respectively.

A report coming from Police Station 8 identified the victims as Arman Alih, 29 and Shaina Maw Majid, who both suffered second- degree burns in the different parts of their body  and were rushed to a hospital

Information received showed that 10 houses were destroyed during the fire incident at Purok 11, Sitio Pitogo, Sinunuc at about 3:10 am yesterday.

Allegedly, the conflagration started at the residence of Benjar Majid, 35, married, and was caused by unattended candle.

The estimated damaged to property was P250,000 more or less, the fire bureau said.

Meanwhile, 5 bunkhouses, which serves as housing quarters for stay-in dried fish laborers, were totally destroyed on Wednesday night when a fire broke out at UNICO compound,  owned by Johny Co.

Base on report received by Zamboanga Today that prior to the incident, the occupants noticed sparks coming from the drop wire of ZAMCELCO located on top of one of the  bunkhouses.

Witnesses said that fire abruptly burned the roof and it quickly spread out to the other adjacent structures.

However, there was no reported casualty during the blaze.

Initial damage to property was estimated at more or less P80,000. (Eugene A. Lasprilla)
