Former congressman Erbie A. Fabian yesterday announced that he is now inclined to run for the vice mayoralty post of Zamboanga City in the forthcoming midterm elections scheduled May 12, 2019.

Fabian said his decision to run for vice mayor is due to clamor of several sectors.

“My first intention was to run for the congressional post but due to several demands by many sectors such as academe, youth, the senior citizens and many others, some of whom have even went to my house to appeal to me that I vie for the vice mayoralty post,” Fabian explained.

After making the rounds and consulting with the people, Fabian said, he is now inclined to run for the city’s vice mayor.

Asked on what party or political affiliation, Fabian said, “I will run as an independent candidate.”

According to the former 3-termer congressman, mayor and vice mayor, there have been so many offers from different parties inviting him to run but he  stressed that he has not yet made any commitment with any group.

Earlier, Fabian announced his plans to enter the political arena after years of hiatus.

Fabian, at first, announced to run for the congressional seat, but now said he is more ready and inclined to run for vice mayor. (SS)
