Mayor Beng Climaco has pledged to further intensify the City Government’s support and assistance to agencies enforcing anti-drug operations and programs with the ultimate goal of clearing the city of drug abuse.

Apart from providing equipment, free drug testing kits and incentives to tipsters and operatives, the City Government is also collaborating with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), police and other law enforcement agencies in the conduct of information drives in the barangays to drum up awareness on drug prevention and control.

Mayor Climaco also intends to come up with a general assembly of all barangays where issues about drug clearing operations and other issues related to the anti-drug war will be discussed.

The mayor said she will also reiterate her request to the national government to provide PDEA with marked money which is very vital in anti-drug operations. She vowed to bring the matter anew during the Peace and Order Council-Mindanao Cluster meeting slated sometime this month.

“We will do more activities to help our city and clear it of drug abuse,” Climaco emphasized. “We are all-out in our support to President Duterte’s anti-drug war.”

In the 2019 Executive Budget, the city has allocated sufficient funds for the purchase of drug testing kits.

Immediately after the launching of the national government’s anti-drug advocacy ‘Rehabinasyon’, Climaco has written all barangays informing them about the conduct of the anti-drug information drive by PDEA and the City Mayor’s Office as part of the city’s intensified support to the war against drugs.
